Meiko Maschinenbau GmbH & Co. KG is one of the most important innovation leaders in Germany. This is according to the second study in a row by the F.A.Z. institute. This subsidiary of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung worked with Swiss economic research company Prognos AG to analyse patent applications from 150,000 companies and research organisations operating in Germany. Their experts assessed not only the number of patents but also their usefulness. The result: Meiko is one of the top few most innovative companies in Germany.
‘The ability to innovate is a core value for us – to offer the world something truly new rather than just an updated version of an existing product. This has been the foundation of our company throughout our history of over 90 years. Innovation is what keeps us competitive on the international stage and keeps our company growing organically,’ explains Sebastian Hainz, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing at the Meiko Group.
Back in November 2019, the F.A.Z. Institute and Prognos AG selected Meiko as an ‘innovation leader in Green Technology.’ ‘We view this as yet another endorsement of our research and development work. Meiko is providing solutions to help with urgent issues like resource efficiency, the bioeconomy, creating a human-machine interface and – the most topical of all – hygiene assurance and safeguarding human lives,’ elaborates Meiko CTO, Dr Thomas Peukert.
The study used data from the European Patent Office's Worldwide Patent Statistical Database, highlighting the great significance of this achievement. The database contains more than 100 million patents from all leading industrialised and developing countries, in other words from every economically significant state on earth.
