    Meiko expands business in Asia with new start-up

    German machine builder Meiko recently set up a Meiko Korea market organisation to help expand its business in Asia. By establishing a presence in Seoul, the company has boosted its ability to serve the local market and satisfy growing demand in the region. Meiko is represented in South Korea by general manager Jun Kim, and its portfolio already includes a number of well-known Korean companies.

    Founded in March 2023, Meiko Korea is the latest addition to Germany's long-established Meiko Group, which specialises in hygiene solutions. By establishing a Seoul-based start-up, the company aims to expand its business in Asia and harness its local presence to better serve the Korean food-service and healthcare markets. The new Seoul office will make it easier for Meiko's existing customers and partners to access its products and services while also helping to actively promote new partnerships.

    The new market organisation provides Meiko with an important hub from which it can expand sales of its hygiene and food waste technologies across the Asian region. General manager Jun Kim shares the widely held view that this development will be hugely positive for the company's future. During her career, Kim – a Korean native ­– has held numerous management positions at major brands worldwide and gained experience in many areas, including commercial kitchen equipment.

    "The establishment of Meiko Korea is an important step forward, and it gives us the perfect launchpad to drive growth in this promising market. As one of the world's leading producers of high-tech goods, Korea is a country of high quality standards and strong demand for cutting-edge technology. We've already seen from our existing partnerships that our machines do a great job of meeting these requirements. Our goal over the next few years is to build on this success by creating new partnerships," says Kim, reflecting on Meiko's latest show of support for the South Korean market.

    Key priorities include the strategic consolidation of sales channels as well as steps to ensure that local customers continue to enjoy the outstanding levels of after-sales service they have come to expect from Meiko. Meiko Korea will also work closely with the Meiko Clean Solutions Southeast Asia market organisation to ensure these goals are met.
