Cleaning up: Meiko wins Cooking Award 2024 for 3 products

Excitement at Meiko: the Offenburg-based manufacturer of hygiene technology and food waste treatment systems has just won the coveted industry prize, the ‘Cooking Award’, for three products. At the awards ceremony, Meiko cleaned up with wins for the M-iClean PF-S utensil washer, BioMasterFlex food waste treatment system, and M-iFlow IPB automation module.

The ability to wash a range of sizes and shapes of washware in a small space’ – that was the market demand that Meiko responded to by developing the M-iClean PF-S utensil washer. The result is an all-round machine that delivers top-quality washing results and fits into the tiniest corners with its footprint of less than 1 m². The door can be folded down in a jiffy to provide unhindered access to the wash chamber for cleaning. That keeps operating staff's tasks ergonomically friendly. The integrated hold-down grid keeps lightweight washware, like plastic containers, in place. Fold down – fold up, done! This ensures hygiene safety even at high washing pressures. This machine was specially designed for food service, hotels, bakeries, and butchers. It is also a fine example of Meiko quality and won the Gold Cooking Award.

What do we do with food leftovers and organic waste from the kitchen?
This is where the BioMaster® Flex comes in for professional food waste management. According to Lars Urban, managing director of Meiko Deutschland GmbH, this is a particularly sustainable, economical, and hygienic solution. This is especially true if the user then chooses to take the next step made possible by this system: to recycle the food waste at a biogas plant to generate valuable energy.

The award for the new M-iFlow IPB automation module was especially exciting. This product was the result of a collaboration between the company and creative customers and planning experts. Meiko focused in on customers' challenges – from staff shortages to skyrocketing costs – and developed a solution. Whether in a school canteen, works' canteen or hospital, the M-iFlow IPB streamlines processes, reduces staffing requirements, and lowers operating costs. For example, it can reduce staffing requirements at the feeding section of the machine by over 50% (in comparison to an identical dishwashing system without M-iFlow IPB). It is easy and efficient to use, and even if diner numbers vary, staffing needs remain constant – be it for 500 or 1,500 meals. Food waste management is an integrated part of this solution: the M-iFlow IPB automatically removes leftovers from the dishes and transports the waste to a connected collection system. This particular award is even more exciting because the module was only just presented to the public at the Internorga trade fair in Hamburg.

With almost one hundred years behind the company, MEIKO can look to the future optimistically. After all, industry awards are always a great way for outsiders to validate a company's ability to innovate.
